Arsenal are keeping tabs on the situation of Bologna forward Joshua Zirkzee before the summer transfer window, confirms Charles Watts.
The Gunners have been impressed with his work in the Serie A this season, where the Dutchman has helped them compete in the top-4.
Arsenal are reportedly ready to pay around €40m for his signing and he is among their top options to strengthen the frontline.
Zirkzee is a versatile and proactive forward, who can play as a no.9 and even in a deeper role if required. He has scored 12 goals and provided seven assists so far in 36 appearances this season.
With that being said, if Arsenal end up signing him, then the 22-year-old will clearly play up-front as a centre-forward in Mikel Arteta’s XI.
The gaffer could probably rotate him with Kai Havertz to add more unpredictability and flexibility to his frontline for the long term.
Zirzkee’s impressive link-up play and creativity can help him drop deep and also set up chances for Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli. He can also thrive under Arsenal’s robust attacking style and use his slick finishing ability to score goals around the final third.
