Chelsea told Palmer will ask to be sold: 'Star of next Euros in a team barely fit for circus'

Cole Palmer has been one of the very few bright sparks at Chelsea this season. The Englishman has scored 20 goals and provided nine assists in 27 Premier League appearances so far this season.

The 21-year-old missed the Arsenal game on Tuesday and the Blues suffered their worst-ever defeat this season, losing 5-0.

With no prospect of Champions League football, a football fan nicknamed Lionzino insists that Palmer will look to leave Chelsea rather sooner than later.

"Here’s the (probably) £100 million question," Lionzino wrote in the comments to the Guardian's piece about the yesterday game. "If you’re Cole Palmer how long do you want to stay with this bunch of utterly lost little children struggling to be anything like an actual football team?

"How long before you can’t resist the siren calls of clubs who are far more on Manchester City’s and your level?

"Here’s a player who will undoubtedly be a star of the Euros, in a team that’s barely fit for the circus. In less than a season he’s confirmed his status as a proper football talent simultaneously damned the entire Chelsea ‘project’ by making the team he joined into Cole Palmer FC.

"So now he’s taken his fill, got everything he could possibly have imagined from the club, lots of games, a platform to show his worth, goals galore (including all the penalties forever), how long will it be remotely beneficial for Palmer to stay?

"If I was Bayern Munich, or PSG, or maybe even Arsenal, Aston Villa or Liverpool, I’d be looking at him going, he needs Champions League football. And if I was Manchester City I’d be going, that man is Bernardo Silva’s replacement.

"How long do you reckon he is going to stick it out with this bunch of utter, utter losers?"
