Chelsea receive 'green light' to appoint key transfer specialist, his new responsibilities revealed

In February, Chelsea reached an agreement with Brighton's head of recruitment Sam Jewell that he would join the project at Stamford Bridge. However, Brighton placed the 34-year-old on a gardening leave, preventing him from joining immediately.

Now, Fabrizio Romano reports that Jewell has received a 'green light' to start working for Chelsea. He'll join the club structure in time for the summer transfer window.

It is understood that Jewell will be working on identifying transfer targets for Chelsea and other clubs in the BlueCo multi-club model. Currently, it only includes one other club, Strasbourg from Ligue 1.

At Brighton, Jewell worked under sporting director Paul Winstanley and replaced him as the head of recruitment after his boss moved to Chelsea. Now, they'll be working together again.
