Real Madrid have sent a letter to the French Football Federation insisting that any of their players who gets called up to the Euros this summer will not be allowed to feature at the Paris Olympics in July, according to L'Equipe.
This rule applies to Aurelien Tchoumeni, Eduardo Camavinga, Ferland Mendy and also Kylian Mbappe who joins Real Madrid in the summer.
Real Madrid believes they have to protect the health of their players to prevent them from being overworked by their countries before the start of the season. Barcelona failed to do this with Pedri in 2021 when the player was allowed to feature in both the Euros and the Olympics in the same summer. He's been battling with injuries ever since.
Hence, Mbappe is expected to adhere to this ultimatum by Real Madrid and play in only one competition in the summer, not two.
Meanwhile, the same rule applies to Real Madrid players who play in the Copa America like Fede Valverde, Vinicius, Eder Militao and Rodrygo. These players will not be allowed to play both the Olympics and Copa.
Countries are allowed to invite three players aged older than 23 to play in the Olympics, which puts several Real Madrid in contention to play two tournaments in the summer if they're allowed to.
