Man United to adopt different transfer approach; aiming to avoid one major mistake from previous years

Man United are set to have a really busy 2024 summer transfer window, with it being the first major one since Sir Jim Ratcliffe became co-owner.

According to Fabrizio Romano, the Red Devils’ hierarchy are poised to adopt a much different approach in making transfers – both ins and outs – from previous years.

They want to avoid the previous mistake of waiting for far too long for other clubs to make transfer moves and end up having to panic-buy at the end of transfer windows.

This persisting issue under the previous executives, especially Ed Woodward, saw Man United grossly overpay for many players and transfer sagas drag on until a season was well underway.

Man United’s new technical director Jason Wilcox will be playing a key role in the summer in terms of signings players, selling unwanted ones and also looking into the contract renewal of those into the final years of their deals.

The club has already reportedly decided to sell a bunch of players, with only a few first-team stars actually being untouchable at this point of time.

Man United are likely to make multiple signings in the summer, with priority being given to roping in a new centre-back, left-back, midfielder and right-winger.
