Rumours linking Darwin Nunez to Barcelona continue to get hotter by the day. Multiple sources in Spain insist that Barca are seriously interested in signing the Uruguayan striker this summer.
According to OnzeTv3, a popular source in Barcelona, the Catalan club wants Nunez to become a long-term replacement for last season's La Liga top scorer Robert Lewandowski.
Barca are said to be willing to sell Lewandowski this summer as his salary could rise to €32m next season depending on how many games he plays.
Nunez represents a malleable, younger and robust option for Barca. The 24-year-old hasn't done as badly as the naysayers sound with 31 goal contributions in 52 games – 18 goals and 13 assists.
Recently, Nunez has been spotted hanging out in Barcelona alongside Barca key defender Ronald Araujo.
The striker also caused a stir by deleting all related Liverpool pictures on his Instagram. However, he probably did that following advice from the club.
Liverpool values Nunez highly and are not expected to cash in on a player they spent €85m to sign from Benfica barely two seasons ago.
