'I always said it': Haaland names toughest opponent he's faced this season — it's a Liverpool player

Speaking to BT Sport, Erling Haaland said: "My toughest opponent this season? The most difficult, we struggled at Anfield I remember.

"Virgil van Dijk, I always said it, I think he's so good. But the good thing is I'm meeting Ruben Dias, Manuel Akanji, Nathan Ake in training every single day.

"Training [at Manchester City] is not easy. But Van Dijk, I like him a lot. He's smart, fast, and in the air, he's just unreal as well."

Haaland faced Liverpool once this season, the 1–0 win for the Reds against Man City at Anfield in the Premier League on 16 November.

The Norwegian striker, who went on to score 52 goals in 52 games for Pep Guardiola's side in all competitions, struggled to deliver against Van Dijk.
