Tottenham curse in action: Why Spurs U21 didn't win Premier League despite being first in the table

Almost all the curses in the world fall before two main curses: Harry Kane and Spurs. And it seems like its power is too strong, as Tottenham finished at the top of the Under 21 Premier League but missed out on being crowned champions.

The last time Tottenham celebrated an official trophy win was back in 2008 when they triumphed in the League Cup against Chelsea. Their last league title victory dates back to 1961, although their reserve team technically clinched the Under 21 top division this season.

Under Wayne Burnett's guidance, Spurs' young talents gathered an impressive 46 points from 20 games, with 14 wins and only 2 losses.

Normally, this would mean lifting the U21 Premier League trophy, but this season introduced a completely different format. As pointed out by YouTuber and Spurs podcaster Chris Cowlin, the Premier League 2 no longer involves promotion or relegation.

Instead, all 26 teams are placed in the same division, playing 20 matches each. The champion will be determined through play-offs, where the top 16 teams will battle it out.

As the top seed, Spurs will face Aston Villa, who finished 16th, in a one-legged clash in the round of 16. Additionally, the team with the highest league ranking enjoys the advantage of playing at home.
