Barca's maths behind Darwin Nunez interest — explained

Barcelona are indeed interested in signing Darwin Nunez as a replacement of Robert Lewandowski, reports OnzeTv3.

While the Catalans are notoriously broke, they think they can afford the Uruguayan. The maths here is that Lewandowski would earn up to €32m next season, so they're thinking of selling him and spending the money on a younger striker with a lower salary.

The Liverpool forward has 18 goals and 13 assists in 52 games so far this season. He recently removed all Liverpool-related pictures from his Instagram feed and posted a selfie with Ronald Araujo.

However, the Reds are understood to be unwilling to sell Darwin, having bought him €85m two years ago. Newcastle's Alexander Isak is another option for the Catalans.
