France president Macron: 'I met Mbappe's father last week and asked him'

France President Emmanuel Macron has confirmed he's trying to convince Kylian Mbappe once again. This time though, it's about the Olympics coming up in Paris.

"I really hope that all European clubs release their players, as the French clubs have done, that is the Olympic spirit," Macron said in an interview with 'La Tribune Dimanche'

"I met Mbappe's father last week and asked him the question. He told me: 'He wants to play' (the Olympic Games)," Macron added.

One reason why Macron doesn't want Mbappe to leave PSG is because of the Olympic games. It is believed that Real Madrid will not allow Mbappe to play in the Olympics this summer if he joins them provided he plays at the Euros in Germany.

Mbappe confirmed in 2022 that it was Macron who convinced him to stay at PSG when Real Madrid convinced him to move.

"I never imagined that I was going to talk to the president (Macron) about my future, about the future of my career, so it's something crazy, really something crazy. He told me: 'I want you to stay. I don't want you to leave now.' "You are very important for the country," Mbappe told the 'New York Times'.

Real Madrid are reportedly preparing an unveiling ceremony for Mbappe in June.
