Endrick receives red card while sitting on the bench — what he did

Endrick Felipe received the first red card of his professional career during Palmeiras' knockout game against Atletico Mineiro on Wednesday.

Endrick was sitting on the bench when the referee decided to send him off for improper conduct.

The 17-year-old was shown a straight red card for kicking the ball away to prevent an opponent from taking a quick throw-in. His action was quite childish and he got severely punished for it.

Palmeiras eventually held out for a 0-0 draw to progress to the quarterfinal of the Copa Libertadores after winning the first leg 1-0. But Endrick will now miss the first leg of the quarter-final through suspension.

Real Madrid signed Endrick last summer for €37m. He's expected to join Los Blancos in the summer of 2024.
