Zidane, Raul... Imanol?! 8 managers who could replace Ancelotti at Madrid as Carletto to take Brazil job in 2024

It was announced earlier this week that Carlo Ancelotti will take up the position of Brazil's head coach in June 2024. It means he will leave Madrid after the end of the 2023/24 season.

We don't know what the Whites' plans for the managerial position after Carletto departs are. But here is a list of managers that Flo Perez might consider when he chooses a successor to the Italian.

🇪🇸 Raul. The Spaniard is an obvious choice. A club legend who is also a promising manager working at Castilla. The question is, is he ready for the big stage?

🇪🇸 Zidane. Another very obvious candidate. Zizou is free after leaving the Bernabeu bench in 2021. He has proven he's one of the best coaches in the world and can lead Madrid's rebuild started by Ancelotti.

🇮🇹 Conte. The Italian is out of job after leaving Tottenham. Apart from his failed spell at Spurs, he's won titles everywhere he went and a Madrid move makes perfect sense for him. However, it's not clear whether he would be able to deal with the notorious Spanish press.

🇵🇹 Mourinho. Why not? The Special One is at Roma, working with very limited finances but still making things happen with the Conference League title in the bag. Mourinho is a Madrid legend and his second coming could see him cementing this status.

🇮🇹 Sarri. An outsider choice, the chain-smoking Italian is working wonders with Lazio, finishing second in Serie A last season with a very tight budget. He previously built a Napoli team that played extremely attractive football, won the Europa League with Chelsea and guided Juventus to their last Serie A title to date.

🇫🇷 Wenger. The Frenchman could be a bizarre but interesting choice. His Arsenal record speaks for itself and Wenger previously revealed he was a Madridista growing up. He's been out of job for quite a long time but hasn't retired and said that he would be open to returning to management.

🇪🇸 Imanol. If Madrid are looking at La Liga managers, Imanol is their best bet. The Basque has guided Real Sociedad to fourth place in the 2022/23 season, meaning La Real will play in the Champions League, only for the fifth time in their history. And it if doesn't convince you, then ending La Real's 34-year wait for silverware with a Spanish Cup title in 2021 probably will.

🇪🇸 Xabi Alonso. The Madrid great is doing an excellent job with Bayer Leverkusen, guiding them to the Europa League semi-finals less than a year after taking charge of a team that was second-last in the Bundesliga standings.

Who would you choose?
