'Not the right time to talk': Ten Hag refuses to discuss Man United future after Newcastle win

"I cannot answer tonight this question as it is a very long answer," replied Erik ten Hag, quoted by the Daily Mirror, when asked if he will continue as Manchester United boss next season.

"I don’t think it is the right moment to talk about this.

"I have to talk about the next game and then a great [FA Cup] final – it's a huge achievement even in a disappointing season.

"I see the positives this team is developing. I think we had a difficult season, but one thing was constant and that was them [fans] being with us and backing the team.

"We are very pleased with it and we want to pay them back."

Reacting to the much-needed 3-2 win over Newcastle at Old Trafford, Ten Hag added: "[This is ] Our last game [at home].

"We wanted to thank them for sticking with us, we are in difficult times.

"We are in a transition at this club and the results are not what we expect. We also have our reasons, but it's still a disappointing season."

Ten Hag can take some respite from the fact that the season from hell is nearing an end; unfortunately, it's not over though.

He still faces a decisive test against Manchester City, who beat his side last season to lift the FA Cup and complete their treble.
