7 players to fill Man United's problematic positions ahead of 2021/22

On Wednesday, Tribuna.com took a look at four problematic positions for Manchester United that need to be addressed this summer.

We need a new centre-back, a defensive midfielder, a right winger and a striker. However, there is a good chance we won't get them all - or even one of them - because it all depends on the Glazers.

If things go our way though, here are a few players who could solve our problems next season:

Centre-back

As things stand, we have Harry Maguire as our main option at the back with Victor Lindelof, Eric Bailly and Axel Tuanzebe vying to be his partner.

However, when the captain was injured last season, the Red Devils shipped goals at an alarming rate. The need for a new centre-back is more apparent than ever and we've been linked with Pau Torres, Jules Kounde and Raphael Varane.

United insider Jonathan Shrager has claimed that the club have not made an enquiry for Pau Torres just yet, leaving us with Kounde and Varane.

Although the Real Madrid man has more experience, one can't help but feel that Kounde would be the better choice here. The Sevilla defender could be available for €70 million.

He may be only 22 but Kounde already boasts better numbers than Varane and Pau Torres. He's also more aggressive compared to the two - and that's a quality we desperately need in our centre-backs.

Defensive midfielder

As pointed out rightly by many fans, signing a defensive midfielder should be our top priority.

The midfield pivot of Fred and Scott McTominay hasn't produced good results consistently and it would make more sense to find someone to effectively replace Nemanja Matic. It will provide Ole Gunnar Solskjaer with greater tactical freedom too.

Declan Rice appears to be everyone's favourite option but West Ham's exorbitant price tag makes the move less than likely. We have another player who could be a game-changer and that's Tomas Soucek.

Soucek is a true blue defensive midfielder and is known for defending like no one's business. As a matter of fact, he won a whopping 17 aerial duels in a single Premier League game last season.

Right winger

Who better than Jadon Sancho for this role?

Think about it - he's young, dynamic and capable of getting along with the rest of the squad. A front three of Marcus Rashford, Mason Greenwood and Sancho sounds solid for the future, doesn't it?

German media outlets seem convinced that Sancho will join United this summer after some crazy drama last year. The Englishman scored 11 goals and provided eight assists in the Bundesliga last term - we certainly wouldn't mind having him join us!

Striker

Mino Raiola's excessive wage demands coupled with Borussia Dortmund's insane price tag has all but ruled out a move for Erling Haaland.

That leaves us with Harry Kane - a PL proven striker who can get us 20+ goals in a season.

The Tottenham man has expressed a desire to leave the club this summer and win trophies, meaning the club may have no choice but to sell him. And if that happens, United could greatly benefit from making a move.

Of course, Spurs won't let their star man leave easily but if the Glazers are serious about making amends to fans, they better loosen their purse strings!
