'We’ve squeezed all the blood out': Three Lions star calls for new Euro anthem for England

England's beloved anthem, "Three Lions," has been a staple for almost 30 years, but one of its creators is suggesting it's time for a change. Frank Skinner, part of the team behind the iconic song, is proposing a new melody for the national team as Euro 2024 approaches.

Skinner, along with David Baddiel and the Lightning Seeds, crafted "Three Lions" ahead of Euro 1996, and it has since become a favourite among football fans. However, Skinner believes it's time to move on and embrace something fresh.

While many fans may be hesitant to say goodbye to such a classic tune, Skinner's suggestion comes with the hope of bringing new luck to England's title prospects.

Skinner said: "We’ve squeezed all the blood out of that stone now, and we’ve squeezed it hard. We’ve had a really good run. I feel the song is done really."

"We did a Christmas version for the last World Cup, and it wasn’t a sizzling Yuletide success. It’s time for someone else to come up with a new tune. Surely the FA have got someone else lined up already."
