'It's surreal to think about how close we were': Victor Torp breaks silence over his disallowed last minute goal

Coventry's Victor Torp admitted that he couldn't bring himself to watch a replay of his disallowed goal for a whole day after their FA Cup semi-final loss to Manchester United at Wembley

He told Tipsbladet: "It's a bit difficult to cope with all the things that happened. When you've tried to watch the game again or highlights, there are many things you've forgotten that happened because you forgot some of it in the heat of the game."

"In the evening, I didn't see my goal because it was just millimetres that determined it was offside. I had to digest that before I could see it, so I only saw it the day after. I just needed to get it out of my system."

Victor's offside was a very difficult call with some even claiming that the line was drawn over Aaron Wan-Bissaka's foot.

Torp added: 'It's a bit surreal to think about how close we were to creating something completely magical. I don't think it has fully dawned on me how close we were to making something huge. Even though I feel like we did something massive, there was just that happy ending missing from the story, unfortunately.

Torp joined the game when Coventry was three goals behind Erik ten Hag's team. Despite the odds, the Championship underdogs managed to tie the score at 3-3. They almost secured a stunning victory when Torp scored with almost the final kick of extra time.

But their joy was short-lived as Torp's goal was disallowed due to a very close offside call against his teammate Haji Wright, confirmed by VAR. Manchester United held on and advanced to the Cup Final after winning on penalties.
