"His absence is annoying, a disappointment because he is one of our most important players, especially how this national coach wants to play.
"But I don't think it is a serious injury," the Atletico Madrid forward said.
De Jong was initially named in the Netherlands squad for their Euro qualifiers against France and Gibraltar, but the midfielder pulled out of the squad citing an injury.
Indeed, De Jong's injury is not serious as Holland manager Ronald Koeman confirmed that all the player needed was rest.
“Frenkie de Jong being out is a big blow. He is a key player for us. He has qualities that not many other players have,” Koeman added.
