What would have been a fair scoreline in Arsenal v Fulham? Answered through stats

Arsenal failed to edge out Fulham at the Emirates on Saturday as the game ended in a 2-2 draw.

Mikel Arteta rued wasted chances after the game, insisting that the Gunners dominated the game and 'could have scored 5, 6, 7 goals easily'.

While he may be slightly exaggerating, Mik's point stands. Arsenal deserved to win the game judging by the stats.

The Gunners' xG (expected goals) is 3.20 compared to Fulham's 0.56. The Cottagers created just one big chance (and actually missed it — Ramsdale saved Arsenal when Traore went one-on-one against him late in the game), as contrasted to the Gunners' five big chances. So it's safe to say that the visitors rode their luck at the Emirates. The Gunners were the better team throughout and deserved to win the game 3-0 or 3-1 — it would have been a fair result, not 2-2.
